NYC VIDEO GAME FESTIVAL
Unicorn Roar guided the NYC Mayor’s Office of Media & Entertainment and NYC Public Schools, the largest school system in America, in creating one of the most ambitious student creativity initiatives in the country, helping students move from consumers of technology to creators of interactive experiences.
The NYC Video Game Festival serves as the public-facing showcase for citywide game design & interactive media education initiatives, and positions NYC as a national leader in scholastic esports, indie game development, creative workforce training, and experiential learning.

Scale: 3,390+ students in 2026 (117% YOY growth)
Reach: All 32 K-12 NYC school districts plus NYC Colleges and Universities
Outcome: Expanding into a multi-day citywide festival with additional competitions planned for 2027
